Vintage Illinois River Black Duck Decoy by Artie Behmetuik

 Vintage Black Duck Decoy Artie Behmetuik(also known as Artie Bennett) of Lockport, Illinois. Circa 1950’s. Behmetuik learned decoy carving from his friend, famous Illinois River carver, Skippy Barto. Behmetuik’s carving is very similar in style to Barto’s. This Black Duck is in excellent condition with rich black & tan paint tones and detailed comb painting. The body is hollow 2-piece construction and the eyes are glass. It is a full sized hunting grade decoy. The keel weight has been removed. Behmetuik’s work is documented in the book, “Decoys and Carvers of Illinois” and “Decoy Magazine” Nov/Dec 1996 issue. This is in mint condition and would be an exceptional addition to any collection.
