These are unique regional hunting artifacts known as decoy corn. These were used throughout the country when "Baiting"(the use of corn put out in hunting fields to attract wild ducks and geese) was made illegal in 1933. They are hand carved and made of wood and look like partially shelled ears of corn. They were made by contemporary Illinois carver John Wagner. These are great hunting artifacts and it would make a wonderful addition to your decoy collection.
