This is a rare Dunscomb’s Shot Case. These retail display cases were found in hardware stores and general stores from 1880 to 1920. They stored and dispensed bulk lead shot for shotgun shells and are a classic antique gunning artifact. Each compartment held a different size shot from #8 to triple Buck. This case is in excellent original condition with minor wear overall. It measures 25” x 10” x 12”. The unit has 2 drawers for accessories and one is stamped with the Mfg Name and patent date of July 15th 1879.
Collectors use these as centerpieces to their decoy collections with their most prominent pair displayed on top.
