Excellent early Illinois River Mallard Drake Duck Decoy used at the famous Princeton Gun Club on the Illinois River in Bureau, Illinois. Circa 1910. The carver is unknown and the decoy has been repainted by famous Illinois carver Henry Holmes. The decoy is a characteristic boat style with a rounded bottom and a hollow two piece body. The decoy carries the Princeton Gun Club members initials "JCL". The keel weight has been removed. This decoy has raised cheeks similar to the style of Charles Walker and might have been carved by his Father. This is an excellent example of an Illinois River decoy and would make a great addition to your collection.
