RARE & EARLY PREMIER MASON BLACKDUCK

Circa. 1895

Extremely early Premier Blackduck Duck Decoy by the Mason Decoy Co. of Detroit Michigan. Circa 1895. This is one of the earliest Premiers and is there best body and head style.   There are not many of these in existence. The decoy is in excellent structural condition. The paint has been restored by the nation’s leading decoy restorer Paul Fortin in 2007.   Fortin is known for his ability and attention to detail in the faithful and accurate restoration of many of the best decoys in collections and museums today. The tail and bill are excellent and have no chipping at all. It is the style of this bird that makes it exceptional with its high tail and extremely well carved head, bill, and neck. This is identical to the decoys pictured in their literature. Seldom to these rare early Mason decoys become available and if you are searching for a truly great Mason, this is the bird for you.
